PAPER SLIPS

It was raining, when Kavita after doing all her household work sat down on the study table. It wasn't her's but belong to her husband. Kavita was married to Anurav, a writer by profession. He loved to write but couldn't because all he could think of rebellious thoughts about the British raj and he knew if it was published in the newspaper, he could be jailed.
Kavita had been writing since a very long time, but without anyone knowing.  She felt that whatever she wrote is nothing compared to her husband's note. She wrote in paper slip which would be torn and put under the bed after it got completed.
Kavita lived in Bangal and her husband himself was a big zamindar in the village. Each day there would be tons of people in her drawing room asking for Seth Anurav ji. Her husband would meet each of the peasants and listened to their grief with patience. Amongst all this the only work she had was of making tea and snacks for the loads of peasants.
She had studied till her father was alive but then she was married of at the age of 14. Even now she could make broken sentences to write about her feelings. According to her British people were harming the state but according to her husband it was good for India. She wrote in the paperslip each day about how anxious she is about the white man.
It was a winter night that very year when her house caught fire but when she and her husband ran out the whole account books of the the peasants were burned into ashes that night when she asked her husband the 3rd time that was he forging the account of the peasants she received a blow on her face and she understood.
They had to resettle in another village because the people couldn't watch them living with them. A new life and new challenges came when they went to search for a new village. As a village head, Anurav was looking for same respect which they found no where else. On the journey at night when Anurav was asleep, Kavita wrote on small paper slips about the journey from her village to another. She didn't tear those pages but kept them with her for a kind of support. Anurav and kavita found a new village from where they could start their life from the scratch.
In the new village they had a small house with less house work. Kavita found it really easy to write her heart out in the afternoon when nobody is there. She would write about how the white man is slowly getting a hold on the politics of the village and how day by day his rule is getting stronger. She wrote about how the people in the village should fight against the oppression  everything she wrote she would compile them in a book, a book of little paper slips. She wouldn't tear it off like she used to do before. Now even her husband thought there was no good coming from praising and obeying the white man. Anurav's writings too became revolutionised, when he started talking about the ideas of oppression and the need to fight back. For him leaving his own childhood village and looking for a new one was the worst kind of punishment.
Since nobody has known that kavita was writing something which would make some difference in India. It only when Kavita was by mistake caught up in a mutiny and got killed by the British soldiers. Her writings were found under her bed and some of them in her old purse. Anurav collected them and made them published in a Indian revolutionary newspaper. This is how though her writtings kavita became a important revolutionary in the Indian struggle for independence...
